Salem Free Public Library

The Salem Free Public Library, nestled in historic Salem City, is a place where patrons can explore, learn, and grow. Our mission is to provide access to information, foster a love of reading, and actively engage with our community.

We are part of the LOGIN consortium and the South Jersey Regional Library Cooperative, giving our patrons access to thousands of materials across Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem counties.

New Jersey Collection

Want to find out more about this State’s unique history? Check out our New Jersey Collection. It includes titles about our South Jersey heritage, titles by New Jersey-born authors, and other special interest topics concerning New Jersey. This collection does not circulate. It is for in-house use only.

Adult Collection

Our general non-fiction and fiction section is on the main floor. Items for circulation are in the main reading room. Non-circulating, reference items are in the main room (with the public computers).

Juvenile and Young Adult Collection

​Our Juvenile & Young Adult Collection is located on the main floor in the main reading room. Titles marked with “JUV” have content geared for 4th-8th grade. Titles with YA on the spine are typically for 9th grade and up. The JUV non-fiction books are for all ages.

Children's Collection

Our Children’s Collection, housed in the library’s lower level, has books for children 3rd grade and younger. Come on down, grab a bean bag chair, read! Check out the catalog for a specific title or browse through the various sections.
